free energy is an independent apparel studio built on fine art, heavy fabrications and uncompromised craftsmanship. Every piece originates from original, hand-drawn artwork created by artist and founder Francis.
Rather than relying on mass production, free energy operates strictly on an exclusive pre-order drop model. Each release is available for a limited time only: here today, gone tomorrow.
craft & tokyo production
All garments are screen-printed and analogue-cured in Tokyo, Japan, working alongside master artisans with over four decades of shop experience. By combining Francis' hand-drawn artwork with traditional Tokyo Shokunin (職人) print techniques, every garment is engineered for permanent ink depth, rich colour saturation and archival durability.
Francis physically visited the Tokyo print shop between 2024 and 2025 to oversee a small run for friends and family. This established direct, hands-on relationships and streamlined the production pipeline before stepping out into this wider release.
